ALL I WANT…

In this week The Sweetest Sounds, we’re going to breakdown the Top song on the Billboard Hot 100. This week it just so happens to be Mariah Carey’s All I want for Christmas is You.

girl, I feel you

Its hard for us to imagine a world where this song doesn’t exist. At this point, it’s a certified Christmas classic. We hear it so often, in so many different versions its easy to gloss over the simple Fairydust hidden in the lyrics. So lets examine the Fairydust in All I Want For Christmas is You

I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need

These two lines are so interesting. We often hear that there is a difference between wants and needs. On Christmas, we usually focus on our wants. We want a new iphone or a new Gucci belt,  but we may need a new sweater or a pair of new socks. Despite the fact that we need these things, we’re often upset if we receive them on Christmas.

ugh…

But how often do we get the gifts we want but quickly lose interest in them? That brand, new shiny toy is often quickly forgotten while the socks we were upset to receive are the first things we reach for to warm our feet on a chilly morning.

I don't care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know

Life is short. If we didn’t’ know that before, we know that now. Tell people you love them NOW. Tell them OFTEN. We take for granted the time we have with our loved ones. There is no reason to hide what you feel. There should be nothing left unexpressed. Time is of the essence.

Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you

And we end the section with speaking what we want into existence. Following the ASK BELIEVE RECEIVE formula we talked about before.

The Fairydust in this song is about defining what you need vs what you want, expressing your feelings and then speaking it into existence. Getting a clear vision of what’s important to you and then manifesting that into your life. All of that Fairydust hidden in a Christmas classic!
